Katherine Renée Cortez was born in the Bronx, but grew up in
Upstate New York where she learned how to ride a bike. She can
be seen frequently on the NYC stage performing in the critically
acclaimed theAtrainplays, which played to sold-out audiences
at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons last year.
Favorite stage roles include Julia in Paloma Pedrero's Ana 3/11 at
The Kraine Theater,
Officer Reggie Fluty and others in The Laramie Project at The Gallery Players, Grace in The Undoing of Berta at Teatro
la Tea, and Letitia
in Woo at the Zoo
at the Abingdon Theater.
Television roles include Kathy Perales on Season 2 of Parco P.I.,
State Nurse Rivera on As the World Turns, Stacy on One Life to Live,
and the recurring role of Carmen on All My Children. You can also
see her in the lead role of Ana in Miles Kahn's Fly Trap (Winner,
Best Short Film, SlamDunk Film Festival).
Katherine is proud to have studied with Maggie Flanigan for acting,
Shane Ann Younts for Shakespeare, voice and speech, and at
The Actor’s Movement Studio.
